Welcome!
Through it All, I Remain Myself.

Jade AbuBakr is a 2026 graduate of Hampton University with a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications and a minor in Leadership Studies. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jade has remained passionate about understanding what lies beyond the immediate horizon, which drew her to her alma mater. After graduating from Hampton University in May, she is seeking to not only take her skills to the next level in public relations, but also to serve her country as a diplomat abroad.
Jade has been no stranger to embarking on new opportunities. From her freshman year at Hampton University, she sought out to make an impact. One of her first accomplishments within the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communications was speaking as a representative to Hampton University’s 13th President, Darrell K. Williams, on how to create the “Number One Student Experience in America”. Her public speaking skills would then propel her to moderate several panels which featured Hampton alumni and trailblazers in public relations and journalism. In anticipation of the 2022 SHSJC 20th Anniversary Career Fair Celebration, Jade spoke with Dean Julia Wilson on WTKR’s Coast Live hosted by April Woodard about the significance of the event. She also expanded her reach hosting on-campus events such as the 2025 Homecoming Step Show and pageants.
Since then, Jade’s journey in public relations and communications has continued. As a member of WHOV-TV, the university’s student-led newscast, Jade has participated in the roles of anchor, line producer, and executive producer for the organization.
Additionally, Jade served the community as a student leader, leadership fellow, W.D.C Harvey Scholar, and was inducted into the Kappa Tau Alpha honor society in the Spring of 2025. She is also a Spring 2024 initiate into the Rho Alpha chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, where she served as Vice President and President for the National Pan Hellenic Council, respectively.
Jade is an advocate for the rights of people as well as broadening one’s cultural understanding. She enjoys learning new languages and is currently fluent in French but actively learning Arabic, Mandarin, and Korean. Jade’s two siblings and parents are the primary motivation for all she does. She carries her name with pride knowing how much sacrifice has been made to pave the way for her today. She intends to leave no stone unturned and continue to enter each space confident and poised in her craft.
